WHY I AM AN ECONOMIC CONSERVATIVE

I loved history when I attended school.  It was fascinating to me to learn about the men and women who came before us and did so much to give us the freedoms we have.  These freedoms are so very precious.  I fear we are losing them one by one, and no one is noticing.

In its infancy, this country felt the growing pangs of colonizing a new land.  Settling this land was not an easy task.  The colonial citizens faced many dangers from local native Indian tribes, lack of food, weather; and then, most of all, the greedy quarrel of ownership from the European kings. The French invasion was causing real dangers to the townships being built and their inhabitants.

Men of great courage stood against the tyrannical takeover attempts which were causing havoc among the PEOPLE.  Many had come to this new world searching for freedom to worship their God as they were commanded; as well as maintain the God-given right to live and move freely from an over-bearing system of government under a tyrannical king.  One of these brave patriots was Benjamin Franklin; a colonial assembly clerk and town Postmaster in the Fall of 1732.

The quarrels of the greedy kings was spilling over into the land beyond the American colonies.  In wild Western Pennsylvania settlers were being attacked by French raiders and their Indian allies.  Benjamin Franklin's town was in real danger.  So when the colonial rulers would not, he organized a militia and trained alongside his neighbors.  When the fighting stopped, Pennsylvania elected him to the Colonial Legislature.

There is so much more to learn about this time in our history and so much more about Mr. Franklin.  I will not bore you with long blogs.  But will share a bit with you each day to remind us all who we are and where we actually came from.  Hope to see you tomorrow; same station if not same time.  See you then.  Thanks for listening.
